He praised the operation and said it had strengthened Ukraine's diplomatic position. Ukraine denies this, insisting that fighting is ongoing.
Zelenskyy, who was wearing a bulletproof vest, posted a video on social media showing himself in front of the city's sign at its entrance. He said: "This is very important".
