Ruslan Rakhimovich Khamarov, known as "the Ukrainian femicide", was one of the most feared and bloodthirsty killers in that country, as between 2000 and 2003 he killed 11 women. Born in Berdiansk in 1973, Khamarov suffered the abandonment of his father at the age of 8, who converted to Islam and went to the Russian city of Makhachkala, and four years later his mother committed suicide by throwing herself under a train. In this situation, the multiple femicide spent most of his childhood in an orphanage and in high school, where he graduated in 1991. However, at the same time as finishing school, he was tried for robbery and sentenced to two and a half years in prison, so he was released in 1993. Between 1993 and 1997, he lived in the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhia, where he continued his wave of assaults, and then, between 1997 and 2000, he served part of his new sentence in a psychiatric hospital. In 2000, he was released and returned to Berdiansk, where his relatives had bought him a room, although Khamarov did not work anywhere else for a time. In November 2000, he started with the femicides and his first victim was a 47-year-old woman, although he later chose to choose younger girls to kill. Khamarov looked for approaching girls in the park, in bars or at parties, then chatted with them, established a friendly relationship and invited them to his house. Once inside the house, he drank vodka before getting drunk, had sexual contact with the victim or simply apologized for not being able to do so, then went out into the hall, took a homemade knife, a hammer or a bottle -depending on the occasion-, returned to the room and killed her. Afterwards, the murderer had sex with the corpse, which he then threw into a well. Close to the femicide, it was pointed out that this man had not washed for weeks and seemed like a vagrant, but that did not prevent him from continuing to seduce women. Thus, between November and February 2003, he killed 11 women and girls. The last victim was Polina Izvekova, a 17-year-old mother, whom this subject murdered on February 24, 2003. The young woman's mother contacted the Police three days after the homicide and it was on March 1 that a patrol arrived at Khamarov's house. The officers discovered Izvekova's body in the well, but the femicide revealed that there were "ten more", so he was arrested, while the experts brought the rest of the bodies to the surface.
