Ukraine Controls 500 km² of Kursk Region

On Thursday, Ukraine announced it has control over 500 km² of the Russian Kursk region, intending to use it in an exchange process with Moscow.

The circular area is located in the northeastern region of Ukraine and has an area of about 500 square kilometers. According to the statement of the Ukrainian authorities, this territory was captured by Ukrainian military and will be used for future exchanges with Russia. It is suggested that this area will be used in the process of prisoner exchanges between Ukraine and Russia. Details about this exchange are not disclosed yet; however, Ukrainian authorities assert that control over this territory is part of their strategy for conducting negotiations with Russia. As noted in the statement, this would allow the Ukrainian government to achieve its goals within the framework of the peaceful process in the northeastern region of the country. Currently, there is no information about which specific districts of Kursk are under the control of Ukraine; however, this statement has sparked lively discussions in society. Both sides emphasize the need to maintain calm and trust in the ongoing actions, not disclosing details about the exchanges.
