Recently, a change of attitude has been observed in some parties involved in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. While some had avoided negotiations, others preferred to resolve the conflict on the battlefield. In this context, it was noted that Moscow would make comments when it deems appropriate.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed that his country is willing to move towards peace after meeting in Munich with U.S. Vice President JD Vance. Zelensky also highlighted Ukraine's appreciation for U.S. President Donald Trump's determination to help end the conflict and ensure the security of his nation.
For its part, Saudi Arabia welcomed the possibility of a meeting between Trump and Putin, while awaiting the visit of Keith Kellogg, U.S. special envoy to address the situation in the region. Vance, after speaking with Zelensky, stated that the United States seeks to achieve lasting and definitive peace in the area.
Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it is premature to discuss specific details regarding possible negotiations with Ukraine. Spokesperson Maria Zakharova emphasized that stopping arms supplies to Ukraine should not be conditioned on the start of negotiations, nor should it be considered an incentive for talks.
Zelensky and Vance held their meeting under the framework of the 61st Munich Security Conference, reflecting an important shift in posture regarding the conflict and an openness to dialogue to seek a peaceful solution.
