Local officials reported that in the early hours of Sunday morning, there was a military clash at the border of Ukraine. As a result of the border service's shelling, three Ukrainian border guards were killed, and two others were injured.
In his statement, a representative of the border service confirmed that the incident occurred in the vicinity of a populated area. Information about the event was received by local authorities, who started an investigation into the incident.
"We express deep condolences to the families of the deceased and those affected by the incident at the border. Our service is taking operational measures to clarify the circumstances of what happened and to determine the guilty parties," added the representative of the border service.
He also reported that further details of the incident will be disclosed after the investigation is completed.
