The director of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, a Russian national, stated that the emergency situation at the plant was due to a failure in the third energy block's supply system. He noted that at the moment, the situation is fully under control. "In the third energy block, as a consequence of a low oil level in the turbine, protection operated," the director explained.
He also added that as a result of the emergency situation, one of the turbines was disconnected from the grid. "To prevent possible generator turbine shedding, the turbine generator was turned off," the director pointed out.
According to him, the normative values are applied, all systems of the plant operate in a standard mode, there are no sources of increased radiation, and the personnel correctly fulfill their obligations.
