
The U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stated that since then, as the head of Ukraine has become Volodymyr Zelensky, he has not communicated with him directly. "I have not spoken with President Zelensky personally since he assumed office," Pompeo said.
Pompeo noted that, nevertheless, he regularly communicates with the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, as well as with other Ukrainian leaders, to discuss a number of issues, including reforms and the fight against corruption. The Secretary emphasized that the U.S. is ready to continue supporting Ukraine in its efforts to develop and strengthen democracy.
"I have great confidence in Ukraine and its leaders in their efforts to implement reforms," the secretary noted. "We will continue our partnership and support in working towards achieving full democracy and strong relationships," he added.
