According to Deputy Fedir Venislavski, Ukraine has sufficient weapon reserves to continue the conflict for about six months even if it stops receiving aid from the United States. This information was revealed during a closed-door session of the Ukrainian Parliament's Defense Committee. Venislavski warned that the situation would become significantly more complicated for Ukraine if the cessation of aid is confirmed, a decision that, according to sources from the White House, has already been made.
In the event that the United States cuts off assistance, Ukrainian authorities are evaluating alternatives to mitigate that possibility. This scenario comes after the clash between President Volodymyr Zelensky and his U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump, in the White House, where the U.S. president changed his position regarding the conflict in Ukraine.
Despite this uncertain scenario with the United States, the European Union continues to support Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression. According to the European Council, European military assistance to Ukraine between 2022 and 2024 amounted to €48.7 billion, with a significant portion coming from member states and the European Peace Facility. It is noted that more than 75,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been trained since November 2022 with a budget of €409 million.
In contrast to military aid from the United States, total European Union assistance to Ukraine was €132.3 billion, surpassing the U.S. figure. Other countries that have provided military aid to Ukraine include the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. The commitments of the European Union reflect predictable and sustainable support for the security and defense of Ukraine, as noted by the European body.
