Ukraine reported missile attacks by Russia on the night of Friday, March 7. One of the attacks in the Donetsk region resulted in the deaths of at least 12 people. Russian authorities, on their part, mentioned that an oil refinery near Saint Petersburg was hit by a drone.
The Ukrainian president emphasized that these attacks demonstrated that Moscow's objectives in the invasion of Ukraine had not changed, despite signs of a possible temporary truce. For example, the center of Dobropillya was struck by two ballistic missiles from the Russian army.
Additionally, a Russian drone attack in the Kharkiv region killed three people and injured seven at a meat processing plant, according to Governor Oleh Syniehubov. In total, it was reported that Russian forces fired 145 drones, as well as ballistic missiles and other missiles during the night.
The Kinef oil refinery in Saint Petersburg, over 800 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, was one of the targets of the drones. This attack caused damage to one of the tanks at the facility, according to local governor Alexander Drozdenko. Ukraine has intensified its attacks on Russian energy infrastructure in an effort to deprive Moscow of a significant source of income and reduce fuel supplies to its military forces.
Russia continued attacking Ukraine's energy infrastructure, including the electrical grid and other key sectors. For its part, the governor of the Odesa region reported that Ukraine's third-largest city suffered damage to industrial facilities, services, and residential buildings during the attacks.
In the last three months, seven energy targets have been attacked in various regions of Ukraine. Local authorities also reported at least 12 deaths in Dobropillya, in the Donetsk region, as a result of the attacks.
