Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with US President Donald Trump regarding a verbal incident between them at the White House. This was stated by the American special representative Steven Vitakoff. During an interview for the Fox News channel, he reported that Zelenskyy sent Trump a written message regarding the incident that occurred during their meeting.
Zelenskyy expressed regret about the earlier negotiations. "There was a lot of discussion among our team, the Ukrainians, and the Europeans, who also participated in this discussion, and I can say that they are moving forward," noted the special representative.
In this context, he expressed hope for a quick agreement on investing in Ukrainian natural resources, possibly during the American-Ukrainian negotiations in Saudi Arabia this week.
The incident between Zelenskyy and Trump occurred during the Ukrainian leader's visit to Washington on February 28 of last year and led to increased tension in relations between Kyiv and Washington, as well as a delay in signing agreements on joint investment in Ukrainian natural resources.
Vitakoff's statements were made ahead of a meeting of American and Ukrainian delegations in Saudi Arabia, during which discussions are expected on the perspectives of regulating the situation in Ukraine and deals on natural resources.
