Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticizes Putin's reluctance to agree to a ceasefire, arguing it reflects Russia's aim to prolong the war. He emphasizes Ukraine's willingness for peace and highlights the ongoing diplomatic efforts.

Zelensky Critiques Putin's Response to Peace Proposal

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, reacted skeptically to Putin's response to the proposal for an immediate 30-day ceasefire made by the United States. Zelensky questioned why Putin does not dare to communicate directly with Trump his intention to continue the war in Ukraine and his willingness to harm Ukrainian citizens.

For his part, Ukraine's Foreign Minister, Andriy Sibiga, expressed that Russia, under Vladimir Putin's command, seeks to prolong the armed conflict rather than end it. Sibiga pointed out that Ukraine is willing to accept the ceasefire proposed by the U.S., while Putin has imposed additional conditions, thus showing his intention to continue the war.

Zelensky emphasized that Putin's statements are predictable and manipulative, calling them an excuse to refuse the ceasefire. On the other hand, the Russian president, while showing support for the idea of a 30-day ceasefire, raised demands related to the presence of Ukrainian soldiers in a Russian region as a prerequisite.

The United States, through its envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, has attempted to persuade Putin to join the proposed ceasefire as part of efforts to end the war that has lasted more than three years in Ukraine. Despite this uncertainty, President Trump expressed optimism regarding the possibility of achieving peace, highlighting Ukraine's interest in ending the armed conflict.
