Intense Pressure on Ukrainian Forces in Kursk

President Biden urged Putin to ensure the survival of Ukrainian soldiers amid increasing pressure. The situation in Kursk remains dire, with calls for surrender from the Russian side.

Intense Pressure on Ukrainian Forces in Kursk

The President of the USA Donald Trump appealed to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin with a request to do everything possible to save the lives of Ukrainian military personnel currently in the conflict zone. Trump warned of a possible mass surrender, unlike any analogs from World War II. In turn, the Ukrainian military command confirmed Trump's statements, but the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that his troops are facing increasing pressure.

At that time, as Ukrainian military were confirming information about incoming threats to their positions in the Korsk region, Zelensky told journalists, including correspondents from the French news agency, that the situation with the military in Korsun was "extremely difficult." Putin described the surrounded Russian forces in the territory of Korsun in Ukraine as "capitulations" after it was brought up by Trump.

Last week, Russia carried out a swift counteroffensive in this border area in the west of the country, reclaiming significant territories in Korsun, previously captured by Ukrainian forces in August of last year. The defeat of the Ukrainian forces in Korsun was a heavy blow for Kyiv in attempts to use its successes in this territory for peace negotiations with Moscow. Putin noted: "We feel the appeal of President Trump." After negotiations on a ceasefire in Ukraine with the American special representative, Putin stated in a teleinterview: "If they surrender, they will be spared from weapons, this guarantees them life and a decent address." Trump reported that "thousands" of Ukrainian soldiers find themselves "completely surrounded" by Russian army forces.
