The former president of Russia and current vice president of the country's Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, responded to the initiative of the UK's Foreign Secretary, David Lammy, calling on Russia to accept a ceasefire with Ukraine "unconditionally." Medvedev, known for his outspokenness, stated his position emphatically, saying that the UK and its minister should "put the idea where it originally came from, diplomatically speaking."
"Ukraine has established its position, now it is Russia's turn to accept it," Lammy stated regarding the conflict in Ukraine. His remarks came after the G7 foreign ministers' summit in Canada, where the need for lasting peace in the region was discussed. Lammy emphasized the importance of an unconditional ceasefire at this moment.
The controversy between Russia and the UK over the conflict in Ukraine continues to generate diplomatic tensions. Meanwhile, Ukraine's firm stance has been supported by several G7 countries in its pursuit of a peaceful solution.
