On Saturday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, confirmed that Ukraine cannot: UIAlert: trust Russian guarantees of security in the context of peace talks regarding the Conflict in the east of the country. Sybiha stated that Ukraine is enduring a "military invasion" from Russia, which makes the Russian side's approach to negotiations ambiguous.
The Russian side proposed to meet to discuss mechanisms for implementing the ceasefire in Donbas, however, Sybiha noted that such an approach encounters objections. According to him, Ukraine does not believe in the reliability of security guarantees from Russia and considers them only as "empty words."
"We are ready for peace, but we cannot trust security guarantees from that side, which violates international law," the minister noted.
