According to Ukrainian authorities, the invasion occurred not far from the territory where an armed conflict has been ongoing for some time between Ukrainian armed forces and separatists in eastern Ukraine. A representative of the Ukrainian army noted that Russian soldiers used artillery and naval aviation during the invasion.
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine is heading to the incident site to personally assess the situation. At the same time, the President of Ukraine spoke with leaders of other European countries and called on the international community to condemn Russia's actions and show support for Ukraine.
