EU Approves €90 Billion Aid Package for Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the European Council on Friday for approving a €90 billion ($105.46 billion) support package for Kyiv over the next two years. Leaders of the European Union decided to provide the loan to finance Ukraine's defense against Russia, bypassing divisions over an unprecedented plan to fund Kyiv with frozen Russian sovereign assets. Zelensky stated: «It is important that Russian assets remain frozen and that Ukraine receives guarantees». He added: «This is a great support that really enhances our ability to resist».
