According to information from the Ukrainian military intelligence, the first units from North Korea underwent training in Russia. It is suggested that this occurred in connection with the high likelihood of the Russian forces' deployment in the region of Ukraine. However, official representatives of the Kremlin do not confirm this information. A representative of the military intelligence of Ukraine noted that this incident affirms close ties between Russia and North Korea. Furthermore, he emphasized that the presence of North Korean units in the region could affect Ukraine's security and the region as a whole.
"Such actions could be perilous and create new threats for our country," they believe in the Ukrainian intelligence. They expressed concern about the possible involvement of North Korean soldiers in the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
