According to the statement of the country's defense minister, Maxim Shmyhal, this will allow Ukraine to defend its territory in the event of aggression. "We plan to increase the number of military personnel to 250 thousand people. Of this number, there should be 110 thousand contractors and 140 thousand conscripts," the minister stated. Currently, the Ukrainian army has about 230 thousand servicemen, including 150 thousand conscripts and 80 thousand contractors. "They ensure the security and defense of the country on all possible fronts," Shmyhal added. From his side, he noted that Ukraine does not violate any obligations before the international community, concentrating exclusively on its own security.
