Negotiations on Ukraine-Russia Conflict Intensify

European NATO members are considering a possible negotiated exit for the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which could involve territorial concessions, despite the opposition from the Kiev government. European and NATO officials have acknowledged that the proposal of 'territory for peace' no longer surprises allies, given the billions of dollars invested in support for Ukraine, along with the sending of troops and armament.

In another aspect of the conflict, there has been a suggestion that Kiev could develop a rudimentary nuclear bomb in a short period of time. According to a report from a Ukrainian military think tank for the country's Ministry of Defense, Ukraine could attempt to construct a nuclear bomb if the elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, decides to halt U.S. military assistance once he takes office in the White House.

The report points out that although Ukraine would require a lot of time to set up the large facilities needed to enrich uranium, it does have the capacity to quickly produce a basic explosive device using plutonium extracted from the country's nuclear reactor fuel.
