A wide-scale cyberattack from Russia was carried out on the Ukrainian energy grid, which is largely considered vulnerable, as announced by national authorities.
The attack was perpetrated on the electricity distribution system, managed by the Ukrainian operator 'Ukrenergo'. The cyberattack had a massive character. As a result, a multitude of areas in Ukraine were affected, and many consumers were left without electricity for an extended period.
The press secretary of 'Ukrenergo' stated: 'We are observing very serious attacks on our systems. We are working on their neutralization; however, for us, this is a huge problem'.
The incident raises concerns about the security of Ukraine's critical infrastructure and emphasizes the importance of protection against cyber threats.
