Kyiv Negotiations for NATO Membership Under Discussion

American President Donald Trump stated that he does not object to the statements of U.S. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper that Ukraine's membership in NATO is unlikely. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg supported that Ukraine is no longer considered a member of the alliance after the conflict is over, and the focus of future negotiations should be centered on ensuring a permanent peace.

An official from the Ukrainian delegation at the Munich Security Conference reported to Reuters that it is essential to provide Kyiv with the best prospects before the start of future negotiations. The issue of membership in NATO and guarantees of security should be part of a global agreement. The route has placed Ukraine's membership in the alliance under threat, stating that negotiations must be focused specifically on ensuring a stable peace.

"We are currently discussing, first of all, the Ukrainian issue," he noted on Friday at the negotiations in Munich. Trump also stated that former U.S. President Joe Biden is mistaken, saying that Ukraine could join NATO, which in the end could lead to an escalation of the conflict.
