Zelenski Reveals US Aid and Resource Demands

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky detailed that the contribution from the United States has been 67 billion dollars in military aid and 31.5 billion in direct budget support for Ukraine. In a press conference in Kiev, Zelensky mentioned that the war has cost his country 320 billion dollars, with 120 billion covered by Ukrainian taxpayers and 200 billion coming from the United States and the European Union, mainly in the form of military aid.

Zelensky expressed that during his meeting with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, a document was discussed that stipulated Ukraine should give 50% of its rare earths and other natural resources in exchange for financial assistance. The Ukrainian president pointed out that this proposal did not include the security guarantees expected by Kiev.

The president dismissed the figures mentioned by Trump and stated that it is necessary to clarify those numbers. Zelensky indicated that the document presented by the United States is unclear and mentioned that the proposed conditions do not fit reality. Regarding the request to share natural resources, Zelensky stated that the proposal is not transparent and does not favor strengthening relations between Ukraine and the United States.
