Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has officially appointed members of a delegation for possible peace negotiations. The delegation will be headed by the Chief of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, and will include the participation of Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, and Deputy Chief of the Presidential Office, Pavlo Palisa.
The team, whose composition was maintained after a meeting in Jeddah with a U.S. delegation last week, has formalized its function through a presidential decree issued by Zelensky. The objective of the delegation will be to "interact with Ukraine's international partners during a negotiation process to achieve a just peace."
At a press conference in Kyiv, Zelensky stated that his government will coordinate with the United States in the coming days to define the next steps regarding peace negotiations. The president expressed confidence that if Russia does not accept the ceasefire proposal, Donald Trump's stance toward Vladimir Putin will be clear, tough, and direct.
Zelensky also mentioned the visit of the U.S. special representative for the war in Ukraine, Steve Witkoff, to Moscow. He expressed concern that Russia would present many objections to the ceasefire proposal to weaken Ukraine's position. In this regard, he emphasized the importance of the United States' stance, stating that if a complete ceasefire is reached, there cannot be additional conditions from Russia.
