Negotiations for Peace in Ukraine Progress

President Zelenski's delegation is set to engage in peace negotiations with Russia, as expectations rise for a potential ceasefire. The U.S. plays a critical role in these discussions.

Negotiations for Peace in Ukraine Progress

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky officially announced the team of the delegation responsible for participating in possible peace negotiations. The group, led by the Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, includes the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Defense, and the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office. This delegation was formed after a meeting in Jeddah with American representatives and aims to interact with international partners to seek a fair peace.

Zelensky expressed his belief that if Russia does not accept the ceasefire proposal, Donald Trump's stance towards Vladimir Putin will be clear and harsh. The Ukrainian president hopes that Russia will set conditions to weaken Ukraine's position; however, he emphasizes the importance of the United States supporting a ceasefire without objections.

The visit of the U.S. Special Representative for the war in Ukraine to Moscow is another step in efforts to achieve a proposed 30-day ceasefire backed by senior U.S. officials. Putin, for his part, expressed openness to the idea of a ceasefire but mentioned that there are issues that need to be discussed in depth before reaching a final agreement.

The Russian president spoke before negotiations with Trump's envoy to the Middle East and commented that the ceasefire proposal is correct but there are still aspects to be defined. Both Ukraine and the United States seek to persuade Putin to join the truce and thus initiate talks to end a conflict that has already lasted more than three years.
