Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Friday morning that a large-scale Russian attack on the capital, Kyiv, had killed four people, accusing Moscow of deliberately targeting civilians. The attack, which took place in the early hours of Friday, involved numerous missiles and drones and affected many areas of the city, local authorities reported. AFP correspondents heard loud explosions in Kyiv. "High-rise buildings were damaged throughout Kyiv, in every area of the city," said Kyiv's military administration head, Timur Tkachenko, adding that Russians were shelling residential buildings. Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated on Telegram that air defense systems were activated. "There are many high-rise buildings damaged in every district of the city," he said. Zelenskyy stated: "Four people were killed, about 430 drones and 18 missiles were used in the attack," describing it as "calculated to inflict the maximum damage on the population and civilian infrastructure."
