Intense Drone Attacks in Kiev Amid Rising Tensions

Russia and Ukraine were involved in a series of drone attacks on Wednesday, as North Korea's top diplomat arrived in Russia for meetings, amid reports of the deployment of thousands of North Korean soldiers to support Moscow's military actions.

During the night, it was reported that Russia launched 62 drones and one missile, of which 33 were intercepted and 25 were jammed by the Ukrainian air force. The drones attacked a residential building and a kindergarten in Kyiv, leaving nine people injured, including a child, according to the city administration.

Authorities reported that the Russian attacks also hit other areas of Ukraine, causing at least four deaths and leaving around 30 injured in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, Russian forces continued to slowly advance in eastern Ukraine, announcing the capture of the village of Kruhlyakivka in the Kharkiv region.

The Russian Defense Ministry claimed that its air defenses shot down 25 Ukrainian drones in various regions in the western and southwestern parts of the country. Meanwhile, North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui arrived in Moscow for possible talks on sending additional troops to Russia and the agreements that could result from it.

According to the Pentagon, around 10,000 North Korean soldiers have been sent to Russia and are expected to participate in fighting in Ukraine "in the coming weeks." Pentagon press secretary, Major General Pat Ryder, mentioned that a reduced number of North Korean troops are now in the Kursk region, where Russia has faced difficulties repelling a Ukrainian incursion.
