Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his concern about the lack of Western reaction to the sending of North Korean troops to Russia to join the Russian Army in the fight against Ukraine. According to Zelensky, approximately three thousand North Korean soldiers are already in training camps in the Russian region of Kursk, near Ukraine, and warned that Moscow could increase this number if the international community does not take action.
In an interview, Zelensky mentioned that Russian President Vladimir Putin is assessing the reactions of the West, NATO, and South Korea to this situation. The Ukrainian leader emphasized that if no action is taken by these institutions, Russia could incorporate a larger number of North Korean soldiers. Furthermore, he pointed out that these soldiers, alongside Russian troops, are prepared to engage in combat in the coming days.
Zelensky also warned that Moscow and Pyongyang plan to send North Korean military engineers to Russia, as well as civilians from North Korea to work in the Russian military industry. Before sending personnel, North Korea had already supplied missiles and 3.5 million artillery shells to Russia.
"It will be 3,000, 10,000 or it could be 100,000, and it will directly depend on the reaction of the West," Zelensky stated. The Ukrainian president urged the international community to take action, as he believes the current response is insufficient.
