President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky noted the complexity of the military situation in the country and the successes that Russia is trying to achieve. He pointed out that American legislation prohibits him from meeting with elected president Donald Trump before his inauguration in January. Zelensky emphasized that he will only communicate with Trump himself and not with any ambassador or adviser.

In an interview, translated into English on Saturday, Zelensky stated that Kyiv should apply all efforts to end the war with Russia in the coming year with the help of diplomacy. He remarked: "In my duties as President of Ukraine, I will seriously refer only to a conversation with the President of the USA." Zelensky also mentioned that his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin is not interested in concluding a peace agreement.
