Euro Rises Amid New Push for Peace in Ukraine

The euro rose by a minimum of two and a half cents against the US dollar on Monday, while the sterling function strengthened, as Europe took the initiative in new efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine.

"The euro gained 1.17% to $1.1359, rebounding from its fall to $1.1183 on Friday, or the lowest level since February 24. Over the past two weeks, the euro has been influenced by the worsening of the situation in Ukraine and the dangers on the backdrop of the crisis in Libya," analysts reported.

The function strengthened to $1.2979, supporting the euro at 0.73% after dropping to $1.2846 at the end of last week, when the outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson took a step back following a statement in parliament.

"The new proposal of the 'Lacthingel Plan' group with the Stokholm initiative, of course, will be welcomed by the global community," said European Parliament President David Sassoli.
