The Organization of the United Nations announced on Tuesday that the population of Ukraine amounts to more than 41 million people. This population estimate is for the year 2021.
This number is slightly lower than last year, when the population of the country was registered at about 41.4 million residents.
"In the long term, the population of Ukraine is decreasing due to negative natural growth and emigration," notes the UN report.
According to the UN data, the population of Ukraine continues to decline, mainly due to a decrease in the number of births and an increase in the number of deaths. At the same time, emigration also affects the overall dynamics of the country's population size, leading to its reduction.
One of the main reasons for the decline in Ukraine's population is the insufficiently high level of fertility, which does not cover the level of mortality.
