Most Ukrainian Nuclear Plants Reduce Output Due to Military Actions

Kyiv, February 13 (NA) – All nuclear power plants in Ukraine, except one, had to reduce their output over the past weekend, and several external power lines were disconnected, according to a statement from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The plants were affected by military activities. They reported multiple drones and a cruise missile within their monitoring areas, and the IAEA team at the Khmelnytsky nuclear plant also heard military activity, the information added. 'These events in Ukraine are becoming all too common, and each of them reminds us of the permanent risks to nuclear safety stemming from the deterioration of the electricity grid,' IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said in the statement. The official called for maximum military restraint from all parties, warning that no one can benefit from a nuclear accident.
